GUCCI Spring/Summer 2013 Ready-to-Wear Collection

This time I think that Gucci show could be what I’d call a perfect show, not only because the entire collection was stunning, but also because Frida Giannini has managed to reference so many designers (old ones and her contemporaries) yet maintain originality and the Gucci signature.

The show featured Halston-esque shapes, signature Gucci horse bit hardware, and their heritage floral print. The opulent embellishment was stunning (that’s an understatement) and the show looked far more haute couture than it did ready to wear (let’s hope the prices aren’t.) Giannini gave a slight nod to Tom Ford, particularly with her Halston shapes, but did it in a way that basically said “You are no longer missed here.” Gucci is clearly doing just fine without him. This is a show worth checking out from start to finish… Enjoy!
